Wulgunggo Ngalu Learning Place- Men’s Workshop
‘Wulgunggo Ngalu Learning Place provides Koori men, on a Community Correction Order, with an important opportunity to learn new skills, reconnect with, or further strengthen, their culture and participate in programs and activities to help them address their offending behaviour.’
David Franjic of Colour Chorus was invited by Gusto Films to travel out to Wulgunggo Ngalu to help document the personal stories of a group of Koori men involved with the program. Though their stories were often painful and confronting they also carried an underlying sense of strength and hope. Director/Producer Gus Berger built a strong connection with each of the men creating a safe environment for them to share their thoughts, feelings and stories. Combined with re-enactments and a raw yet cinematic aesthetic, it resulted is a series of films both truthful and beautiful.
